Clean Water Event to be held Saturday July 18 at Limestone Bay

Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge and the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge Association are presenting a Clean and Learn Day beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at Arrowhead Landing on Limestone Bay.
Wildlife Ranger Daphne Moland will be demonstrating how to perform water quality sampling and how this simple test can provide important information on the health of a particular body of water.
Participants will have the opportunity to perform actual testing using available sampling kits.
A clean-up around the landing area will take place following the presentation. Trash bags and disposable gloves will be provided.
Participants should bring water, snacks, sunscreen and bug spray. Also, bring along a camera and binoculars and get in some bird and wildlife viewing.
The program begins at Arrowhead Landing. Directions: From I-565, take exit No. 2 for Mooresville. Travel .1 mile south to the old Alabama 20. Turn right and go .7 miles. Turn left (south) on gravel road (Arrowhead Landing Road) and follow road for 1.6 miles. Take the left fork at the Wheeler NWR entrance sign and travel another .7 miles to Arrowhead Landing - North Alabama Birding Trail Site No. 23.
Wheeler NWR and the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge Association will be offering Clean and Learn Days throughout 2009 along with other environmental education and conservation programs scheduled at the Visitor Center.
